Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.
“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke
Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.
Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.
Rating: 4 Groupie Stars
This was not my first Sawyer Bennett book, but it was the first I read in the Love Hurts series, each book is about a new couple so you don’t have to read them in order. Jilted is the story of Eden Goodnight and Cooper Mayfield. Eden left her hometown of Newberry, Georgia when she could and now after becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses and learning of her fiancés affair, while on the red carpet and subsequently freaking the hell out, she is back to the one place she feels she can escape from the drama that is her life. But when her past is standing right in front of her asking why she’s at his house, the one her emotionally absent grandmother left her, and him apparently, she is shocked to learn that her grandmother gave her more drama from the grave, after making her youth and teen years hell.
Coop Mayfield, loved Eden Goodnight all through his teen years and he thought they would last forever, but when college came and Eden was offered the chance to model the girl her loved was gone and he hasn’t been the same since. Coop knew that Eden’s relationship with her grandmother was tough but he became close the the elderly woman before she passed because he knew Eden didn’t come home to check up on her or call. So when he was gifted 50% ownership of Goodnight house he thought he was clear to have the house to himself, since Eden would never come back to Newberry, but now she is and they have to figure a way to not only live together but maybe bury the past, because for Coop, its not just her leaving that left him pissed its something else entirely.
Eden and Coop were a great couple to read about! I loved the way they would bicker! You could tell that they had a past and not a good one, but it at least made it interesting. Eden wants to know why the whole town hates her, not just a little hate either, its a hate that is deep and wide spread and for the life of her she cant figure out what the hell happened to the people of her hometown! Coop and Eden have to find a way to work through their past to find common ground, but when things seem to have worked out for the better between them, the reality of their careers smacks them in the face. Coop owns a business in town and Eden is an LA actress, how could they even work out, they didn’t in college so what’s changed? Can these to figure out a way to have it all or will they both remain jilted by their past?
